Asri over on the Independent Symbian Blog has been busy making simple Google Launchers for Calendar, Gmail, gReader and GTalk, but these don’t simple open the normal Nokia version of the google page, but the android versions

I’ve been beta testing this update for the last few weeks on my Nokia N8 and haven’t had any problems with it, download its a great app. Oh if you don’t know what Pixelpipe is, its a service which will send status messages, photos, videos, audio, files to mostly any online service you use, I use it for twitter, facebook, google buzz, flickr, twitpic, wordpress and dropbox.

The final version of Opera Mobile v10.1 has just been released and promises significantly faster JavaScript performance for a speedy browsing experience. Personally I’d like to see the ability to play audio and video from Opera Mobile, but here’s hoping for that in v11.0? PLEASE!
I’m still having problems with Opera Mobile crash on me when I select to use the default Nokia N8 keyboard rather than the built-in Opera Mobile one, but apart from that the browser works great and it is quite speedy

New in the OVI Store for the Nokia N8 is Nokia Battery Monitor application which shows you how much battery life you have left in your N8. The application also comes with a homescreen widget which you can set to show your talk, web, music or active standby time left on the device.

Head over to the OVI Store and you will now find Swype for N8 is available to download and install.
Swype still only works in landscape mode which is a bit disappointing, but still its better than nothing.
Also if you haven’t done the tutorial which comes with swype you may not have noticed the 2nd controls layout by swyping from the i/swype symbol to SYM.
